“Every day is Fathers Day.” Like pretty-much every dad on the planet I’ve heard this more than once and, like every other dad, just laugh it off.
But recently I got to thinking about this and realized that it’s true. For me it is anyway.
“Her husband can trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life. She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.” Proverbs 31/11-12 (NLT)
I get to live everyday with my perfect partner in crime (and whatever other adventure we find ourselves in) who reminds me every day in word and in deed that she loves me. And on rare occasions I feel like I deserve it.
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the Truth.” 3 John 1:4 (ESV)
And I get a front row seat next to my wife as we watch and celebrate the amazing individuals that our two daughters have become. At times I have to quell the dad’s urge to coach, to correct, to do, but always happy that I didn’t when I see that, once again, they not only survive but thrive.
And if that is not enough, a fantastic son-in-law who loves God, protects and provides for our oldest daughter and is about to become father to our first grandchild!!
No, my life isn’t perfect. I don’t live in a perfect world. But my life is pretty awesome;
Awesome because my God has been faithful to His Word as it relates to my everyday,
Awesome because I’m about to become a grandfather (we are on Day 7 of the Baby Watch)!!
Awesome because as I sit here sipping my double latte (I like the extra hit ☺), reflecting on my family and putting these thoughts to words, I can’t help but smile – and laugh a bit, but mostly smile.
So, on this Fathers Day, I salute my family. Thank you for making every day Father’s Day!
