Young and naive, I was intent on being a superlative wife, mom, and business owner. Gag! Who uses the word superlative? The use of the adjective superlative reflects the depth of my disconnect from reality. I thought I could achieve excellence simultaneously as a wife, mom, and business owner.
My heart was earnest. My mind was committed to finding a way forward successfully. I worked around the clock, as if I was spinning thousands of plates in the air.
Do you hear the plates…
I was missing the mark and I didn’t know why.
Desperate for answers for a better way to live, a way to realize my audacious goals, I attended a Bible study Marriage Without Regrets: Learning How to Become One.
It’s interesting to note, I did not go to the Bible study because I wanted to know more about Jesus, nor did I go because I wanted to be a better Christian. I went to Bible study because I was desperate for answers for how I could live my life better and accomplish my goals.
Ugh! Do you hear the selfishness in my heart?
God had prepared something much better for me. A fork in the road which would lead to a better life. Yes, I found answers but they involved a transformation of my heart and mind. The process of maturity has been a mixture of good and gritty circumstances. Can you relate?
As we approach Easter, I am reminded of the early disciples of Jesus Christ. Like you and me, they were looking for a better way to live. They were looking for an earthly king who would help improve their daily lives. Imagine their struggle as they wrestled with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
Life was not working out the way they had expected. God had a much better plan for the early disciples of Jesus; a better way to live.
God’s better way to live is revealed one life at a time in each generation.
Today, there is a better way for you to live.
